Branding 101: 3 Ways to Step Up Your Game

tired and sleepy young business woman at the desk with a laptopWhen it comes to personal branding, most people think about their logo, their website design, and maybe their look. What they don’t realize is that you can’t attract clients or fans if you don’t know who you are.

Who are you?

When I started Rock the Next Stage, our kids were grown and gone and I had let go of two businesses that I had created and managed for close to 20 years. For the first time in my life, I started attending networking meetings and tried to blend in.

I had never mentioned my degrees before but people seemed to feel that was important, so I dressed and acted like a business coach with an MBA. I buried my whole rock chick/drum chick personality and the fun side of my business. And I wondered why the clients weren’t lining up.

Tip #1: Figure out who you are before you spend any money on business cards, brochures, photos, or a website.

How do you stand out when there are tons of people out there who do what you do? You need to figure out what you bring to the table that they don’t. Everyone has different levels of experience and a different story. This is what will attract people to you!

Tip #2: Find what makes you or your business unique. Name it and claim it!

I use therapeutic drumming for healing, stress relief, ADHD issues, and clarity. I combined my training with some of my own techniques. It’s fast, effective, safe, and fun. It can be offered with coaching or by itself. I’m told I light up when I drum or even just talk about it. This is my passion and my differentiator. What’s yours?

What’s your vision for your talent, your career, or your business? Where do you see it going and how far do you want to take it?

Tip #3: Step into your greatness! Stop playing small! God gave you your gifts and talents for a reason. Use them to bless others and live the life you were meant to live. Life’s short. Isn’t it time to rock YOUR next stage?
